Date: 02/07/2010 49th Annual Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition and Winners’ Recital

The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the Winner’s Recital for the 49th Annual Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition. The recital will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center. The first place winners in each division will perform their competition pieces, and all participants will be recognized. Admission for the recital is $5 per person. Competition participants, their teachers and accompanists receive free admission.
The scholarship competition itself will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2010 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at four different venues. Over one hundred students, from third grade to college, will compete for monetary awards in Elementary,
Junior, Senior and College Piano and Strings, and Senior Vocal and Non-String Instrumental divisions. Prominent adjudicators from throughout the region will be evaluating the students and critiquing their performances.
Please join us for an afternoon of beautiful music as we congratulate the winners of the Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition and honor all the talented young musicians who represent the best of the future of music in the Rockford area.
